Hi I have this really great game idea, with portals and AI monsters that evolve into new monsterrs but I just need some programmers to help out coding it, who wants to help ? Your name will totally be in the credits, and once it starts to make a lot of money there will be royalties too. Also I need one or two artists to help with some basiuc modelling but not much really beacause as I said I already have all the ideas totally planned out, and also the monsters will evolve themselves so it doesnt really need that much original art work! Oh also I looked for the placve where Garage Games lets you sign up to publish your game, but I couldn't find it, can someone tell me where that is!? thanks! I want to be sure they will publish it after I put all this work into it.

Hello!? Someone told me this board was active but its dead! Y would this be a joke ? I have so much work on this plans for this game that I don't understand why u need to be so negative. REAL PROGRAMMERS AND ARTISTS: ignore these guys and join my team !!! Also still I have not heard from Garage Games about the publishing. I am starting to think they are not as serious about success as thy should be.

How old are u 12?, 13?
Fiirst off u broke about every rule of forums, bb, faq's and just about any online forum ever!
YOU never read a thing here, DID YOU?
You jumped right into post and launched into one of the silliest posts in a long time
If you had read ANTHING before starting you would have had an idea of the TREMENDOUS amount of work
being done by hundreds of VERY clever people
You would have seen that the best way to get noticed is to HUMBLY ask to join one of the existing teams
and you would have:
1) spent 4 years growing up
2) actually learned something usefull
GO AWAY no body is interested in you or your idea
and BTW GARAGE is doing quite nicely, Thank You, they DO NOT need ure lame idea to save their business

Mark: i hope thats not you on your picture, because then you are probably at least as "not grown up" as awesome coder. Seriously, juding from your age of your picture, i would not even use abreveations like omg n such shit, it makes you look unworthy.

Im sorry for the less mature answers by the less mature members of this forum. What they are trying to say(i guess) is that: MAKING A GAME IS NOT EASY! Ok you have a nice idea, with portals and evolving monsters in it, fine for you, but it takes an extraordinary amount of game design, programing, knowledge and time to make osmething out of this idea. Besides, the idea might suck for all you know, it all depends on who is playing the game. Also, u should not go on about publishing games before you even have some basic sketch or whatever. You seem very enthusiastic, which is fine, but u should probably have looked up the amount of work needed before u made such an presumptious speech(presumptious being that you asume you will make money). Also, its mostly the coders who make up the game ideas and designs and such, coding requires creativity, and creativity coupled with some fantasy allows you for designing very sophisticated game ideas. But you got me curious, would you explain the idea some further(u dont have to explain it in detail, in case your afraid of someone stealing it)?Mark: i hope thats not you on your picture, because then you are probably at least as "not grown up" as awesome coder. Seriously, juding from your age of your picture, i would not even use abreveations like omg n such shit, it makes you look unworthy.

It's probably not helping that this kind of post would fit into several other forum areas much better than here. I'm not sure which areas you can see, but the forums are VERY active; though specific things are required to be discussed where only licensed people can see.
Don't worry about publishing.. publishing for someone in your shoes (not meant badly) is the least of your worries, and their is no guarente anyone besides yourself will publish anything you make. Something else, the reason some people have made negative comments here would be because I think the tone of your post. Most people who have experience in this field, already understand about publishing.. already know the odds of it "starting to make lots of money", even for the most seasoned people, is a crap-shoot to begin with.
I do not know how much experience you have, what skills you already know, nor much of anything else. Maybe that would be some things you could talk about so people do not assume you are trying to get others to make your game for you (yes it happens). If you are younger, know that there are several kids here who are also working on projects, and from reading their posts, they seem more than willing to take others like them on projects. Just a thought.
Good Luck in what ever you choose to do.

I'm with Ted on this one it would be incredibly tough, but morphing monsters ziping though portals could work... Oh wait I think my 3 year old owns that move. I love the one eyed monster mike ! he is the coolest!Good luck on this project it will take a lot of brains and balls and not specifically in that order.

I have been busy planning how the monsters will evolve - its Really Cool, I cant say too mcuh but it will be even better than spawn because they evolve totally automatically into a world with portal guns and other weapons. And also since it is evolving we dont need to make any artwork exept for the first generation!! I just need a programmer to help for a couple weeks to get the evolutiuon going. I'm surprised noone wants to join I know I can't pay right now unfortunately but this is going to be really big so there will be tons of royalties!

that is the first part.
after that comes very much hard work dedication and Skill's.
what you need to do is realize, everyone and thier dog has a Great idea that would make oodles of cash.
it's making that idea happen that is the hard part.
developers for such a mission require an expansive skillset.
sounds to me like you need to scale back and learn some more stuff before you can tackle this big dream game of yours.

OK I will tell you more about the evolving animals through the portals and about the fish and spaceship if you are a good coder. only EXPERT reply please. I mostly need people on the lighting team because light will be VERY IMPORTANT. please only EXPERT and maybe ADVANCED levels

I read josh blog and sounds like garagegames has lots more money now and cars. WHY DONT THEY POST IF THEY ARE SERIOUS. maybe like you says dogs has a Great idea. but this is the BEST idea. Portals and evolving animasl. You heard of Will write? he like sit. and if Gareage isn't interested I'm gonna take it to EA who I know and they have agreed if Garagegamed doesn't help. But I'm torque licesnes says that garege games has to publish it. GRRR.OK I will tell you more about the evolving animals through the portals and about the fish and spaceship if you are a good coder. only EXPERT reply please. There is nothing in the license that states GarageGames are the only people that can publish your product.
Before you get overly excited and burn out like a light bulb, take some time and write your game down. Then spell check it. This way once you have a team together to BUILD the game everyone knows what they are doing. You need more of a foundation then JUST a 'cool idea' to get people excited about your 'cool idea'. Once your 'cool idea' also have some well thought out design and details it is the time to try to get people interested in working on your 'cool idea'.
Also, its very hard to believe your REAL. You misspell easy words, yet get more difficult words right? You ramble like a 3 year old that have had to much candy. If you ARE real, slow down and act like your 'cool idea' is also a SERIOUS 'cool idea'.

"and loo, 'Gypsyblood' slew many fiendish Gypsies, and the streets ran red with their blood, an loo, henceforth the young lord was refered to as 'Gypsyblood', for he was splattered red with the demon-gypsy blood, and inspired fear into the black hearts and souls of the gypsies years to come"
But you definitivly got a point, and I agree with you to 100%. Awesome coder(with some !!! after), making a cool idea, does not make a cool game by default, and there are NOT a lot of programmers and designers and whatnot waiting around the corner for the unbelivably inoative idea produced by the mind of a 14 year old. Most people allready have a "cool idea" and i bet most of them are quite more sophisticated than an idea that revolves around: Evolution, monster, spaceships and fish(?!). There are some younger programers to, see if you can team up with one of those. Although you would prolly have to put your fish project second to theirs. Also, GarageGames, are serious, and what do you think that says about your idea if you dont get an answer? This is the sellers market, and GarageGames are really nice to sell cheap licsenses to indie developers. Also, try and go to EA, and see what kind of answer you get. Maybe they will even supply you with some programmers and artists to. And hook you up with Cindy Crawford while they are at it. Ok now im being overly negative, its good that you want to do something creative, but the thing is, YOU get to do it, not someone else.
Disclaimer: The part about the Gypsies is something that i would imagine Borat to say, and not something that i would imagine me say. Im one 1/8 jew, i get to be as political incorect as i want to =)

Says the dude called "Gypsyblood", sounds like the nickname some great forefather for Borat =) "and loo, 'Gypsyblood' slew many fiendish Gypsies, and the streets ran red with their blood, an loo, henceforth the young lord was refered to as 'Gypsyblood', for he was splattered red with the demon-gypsy blood, and inspired fear into the black hearts and souls of the gypsies years to come"

TedJHehdjehdkj, im sure that means something also.... or just a bunch of splattered typing?
I know you jest, and it was funny... I especially like the "the young lord was refered to as 'Gypsyblood'" part, but i did not earn my name at a young age.
09/20/2007 (1:35 pm)
Yes.... My name is a metaphoric metonymy, useing word combination definitions, each relating from many different historical classifications, an riddled anagram of my name is a clue and also tells all about who i am, and if you can unravel the legend that it is all based from, you would know exactly what my solo project is all about... Maybe your name hints of a legend of a young urban... freedoom fighter in the cold and damp streets of London in the Dark ages, who like fights for Gypsies, to which he is blood-related? Or Borats great forefather =)
09/21/2007 (9:14 am)
My name used to be Ted, then "we" bought a second license to Torque, and to register that i had to use my account, unfortunaly, someone else called Ted had also registered allready, so i had to change my name. Which i edited by simply pressing random keys on the board in rapid succesion =)Maybe your name hints of a legend of a young urban... freedoom fighter in the cold and damp streets of London in the Dark ages, who like fights for Gypsies, to which he is blood-related? I think you'd be a lot more convincing if you used words like "l33t" and "pwn". (Maybe even "h@x0r.")

Guilty =) I cant speak l33t language. But yes, it would defintivly add more credibility to the character.
