Me and my team were starting to get a little annoyed since it's past april heh but wit hthat last update telling us not just what your working on but WHY it can't be released really made us realize that, heh it's just not bieng posponed to be tweaked and such, and since wer're making an MMORPG and netcode doesn't work heh take as much time as you need. anyways just wanted to thank you...
but don't take too much time ;)

If so...isn't that a relatively easy system where the server broedcasts it's addy and name , and the metaserver rebroadcasts to the clients ? ..
Like how Kali picks up the RB3D server "broadcasts" and lists them (better than WON most of the time) in there TCP list ? ...
Obviously , until a hot game is developed and sold big time .. we wouldn't need a list of games/servers as comprehensive as Tribes or even RB3D ...
Or how about a little script to download off a GG "developers" master/metaserver/launcher ?... similar to the temp.rb2 file which otherwise bypasses the metaservers altogether when used in RB3D Arena ...
Sorry if these suggestions are naive .. I really don't know much about network code .. all I know is that Kali lists Tribes and RB3D servers , apparently without WON's code ...

Tim , perhaps it's just my misunderstanding of the term , but does "master server" = "metaserver" ?If so...isn't that a relatively easy system where the server broedcasts it's addy and name , and the metaserver rebroadcasts to the clients ? ..

Interesting thought Brandon but how can you tell one from the other? Am I, for example, a newbie "having delusions of grandeur"? Difficult to tell from a couple of paragraphs typed on a forum isn't it? ;)

"I think at some point it will be in GarageGames' best interest to put their support effort behind those who are most likely to create a game road versus those who are just playing around or are having delusions of grandeur. What kind of support do you provide?
Community BBS, and a simple demo application. Members of the GarageGames team will be cruising the boards and helping as much as possible. But remember, we are primarily developers and have our own games to work on! We are in the process of growing community members that will be given special status and rights in order to better support our development members. If you wish to be considered for one of these positions, email jobs@garagegames.com.
Can I buy upgraded support?
We are investigating this option. An expanded support system would include special email access, phone access, BBS, and education. If you are interested, please contact us at business@garagegames.com.
The most important thing to get from this is that GG and us Associates are going to be doing support "as much as possible". We all have full-time jobs/commitments elsewhere and can only do as much as we can in our spare time. That's not to say the support won't be good! It just won't be the level of support you could get from a dedicated support staff. If you are interested in having more than the basic support and you are willing to pay a yearly or monthly fee for it, please email GG. If there is enough interest (and money) then they could look into hiring a full-time support person.

BTW exactly are you making it s you need the source code to compile the game if you don't use the source? cant you just take the compiled source and add scripts and stuff to it?

Wait what exactly do you mean by authentication? It can be interpreted in different ways hehe but the way i see it is that if you WERE indeed careful about taking out the won.net code ONLY then it should work or it may need a little work. BTW exactly are you making it s you need the source code to compile the game if you don't use the source? cant you just take the compiled source and add scripts and stuff to it?

Shapiro... you can just use the demo, tools, etc. and just write scripts without purchasing the license. When we release the code, we'll put up all the executables for download.

Erik.. you're right, there's not much to the master server, basically just a place where servers register and clients query. Should be pretty easy to get something going.Shapiro... you can just use the demo, tools, etc. and just write scripts without purchasing the license. When we release the code, we'll put up all the executables for download.

The idea there was that people who are more committed to completing a game will not mind spending a few extra dollars for improved support. That subscription service blurb from the FAQ, which I must have missed, shows that GG was thinking about it long before my post.
I have no idea what people's experience levels are from a couple of posts on the forums. The point was not newbies against experienced, but dedicated versus fooling around. Everyone has to start somewhere, and frankly this is a good place to start.
Anyway, just making sure I am not offending anyone.

I have a feeling that is coming soon though. Better stop jabbering and keep working on that game design...
