Please God allow us to search the Constructor forums

Hey GG, why on earth are you dragging your feet on this? A HUUUUUGE part of the value of Torque is the forums, and searches still don't pull up results from the Constructor forums.
Please, I'm begging you--such a small thing would increase the value of Constructor tenfold, to me.

That doesn't sound like a TGEA problem since it would be the exported DIF that had issues, not the CSX file. I did one that worked fine in TGEA using the pipes that come with C'tor.

You can also see the spot light I pointed at the valve.
EDIT: Attempted to fix tags.

It basically boils down to two things:
1) Make you lighting scale lower (like 2)
2) Make your walls/geometry thicker (if you need thinner stuff perhaps consider using a dts instead)

John Kabus gives a pretty good explanation (with pictures) of why light leaks occur in this thread. It basically boils down to two things:

2) Make your walls/geometry thicker (if you need thinner stuff perhaps consider using a dts instead)

Matt, I have lowered the lighting scale to 2 (it helps tremendously). My walls are somewhat thin (est. at about 6 inches, if I remember right) because we are trying to simulate as best as possible real-world objects/terrain. But I'm not sure why you would suggest DTS walls, unless there is something that I don't know about DTS working to seal off zones?
edit: oops ... I corrected myself that the DTS shapes "are NOT, unfortunately."

David, I may not have mentioned Quark ... but I'm not going to re-read this thread to find out. HA! I don't know if DTS occlusion was ever planned, but I know that I mentioned it in another thread back in either Cont. 1.0.1 or 1.0.2. I believe it may have been Matt who I was talking to at that time (hi Matt). I haven't tried DTS to any extent other then checking if they are rendered inside zones (they aren't, unfortunately), but I at one time that any baked DTS objects that were not at perfect 90-degree angles did not have collision... weird.Matt, I have lowered the lighting scale to 2 (it helps tremendously). My opinion regarding search is simply that no one wants to do it because they all want to do the fun stuff instead. Fun stuff is working on brand new projects, and not-so-fun stuff is fixing old stuff that was abandoned when it stopped being fun. If a GG employee is asked to do this while his workmates are working on something new and fun, it will feel like a punishement.
The difference between an amateur software business and a professional one is that the latter isn't afraid to require its employees work on the not-so-fun tasks.

While I agree having search would be wonderful, I think fixing it here would be.. at least at this point next to impossible. I think the site is getting re-vamped anyway relatively soon (or replaced) so we will see. (I could be wrong on all this, but I thought I read a comment once from a staff member or something).

Sure would be nice to search through all forum posts.

In fact searching in general just plain sucks, especially for something new. I can search a catalog of bookmarks across 3 computers better than the search here works. With all of the improvements to TGEa, the "documenting", and the transparent development thing it may have not been deemed important and slipped by the wayside.

Cheers! Lol! And....still no Constructor forum search love? In fact searching in general just plain sucks, especially for something new. Search resource and forum posts by year or date range would be good too.. saves having to go through stuff that is years old. Only a request but would reduce my search time by more than a half :)

Sorting by date does help tho.

Search resource and forum posts by Torque release would be good too.. saves having to go through stuff that is years old when just a couple of months would do :) Only a request but would reduce my search time by more than a half :) I guess you are limited by Googles search functionality.Sorting by date does help tho.

But we do have the "Everything about Constructor" thread! It's a perfect solution--if you can't fix your search engine, just start putting everything into giant single threads.

I'd put in a link, but I can't search for it.
