troubleshooting test app

by James Poulakos · in Torque Game Engine · 08/12/2002 (10:39 pm) · 2 replies

Say, is there a place on this site to talk about troubleshooting the test app? I'm not getting anywhere because I can't get the test app to run at all in Win98, and in Win2K on the same machine, it runs for about a minute, then locks up the entire machine.

Has no one else ever had probs getting this to run? I'm hoping someone has some tips to help me narrow down the trouble. I've got the OpenAL installed on both OSes [it's the same PC], and the latest drivers for my card are installed. Your helpful tips welcome ....

I was having a similar problem (would crash every time on load)... turned out it was a corrupted or bad openal32.dll file. Renamed it and reinstalled the library, works great now.

What helped me was running it with the -console command-line option, which spits out everything that the console reports to a seperate window. If it crashes, the last line(s) in that log should help tell you what's wrong with it. If not, post the log here and we might be able to help specifically.

Thanks so much! I'm going to do just as you suggest. Good to know, especially, about the console.
