Billboard with alpha channel tree

I have a tree png texture with alpha channel created with paint shop pro - the alpha channel is for everything that is not the tree. When I use it in the game the billboard tree is there but the alpha parts are not clear - eg there is the white background to the tree there.
Is there anything else that needs doing to display the alpha parts properly ?

Make sure area other than tree area should be deleted and jst saved as png.It will take dat blank area as alpha(no need to make alpha channel).

I'm project leader working with Torque 3D. The trees I bought as an art pack many years ago don't look right now, My terrain artist showed me how blocky and funky the leaves look. Could we send you a screen shot of this problem?
