Xsi Dts Exporter

So is anyone else in a desperate hunt to find a functioning exporter for XSI to get your much-loved models into Torque? If anyone is looking for one, post here so we can get a headcount of how important this is.
Thanks.
Thanks.

There is still quite a ways to go on the Leadwerks engine. Make sure you look at the forums for it before picking it up. He's been running a compatibility topic over at blitzbasic.com as well.

Nice to know. I really like the terrain video, it looks so real.

You mean the "Living Forest" video?

I swear I was looking at the Cry engine video, but it said leadwerks engine.

No I mean the terrain (the ground, dirt, rocks) I was looking at the forums and the was an engine demo.I swear I was looking at the Cry engine video, but it said leadwerks engine.

In fact, looking at that page I'd call it a flat out lie. 1.5.2 comes with max, maya, ms, and a 0.1 version of a blender exporter :(

Before this topic gets hijacked too far, I'd like to add myself as another wishing for Garage Games to support XSI. It doesn't seem right that a $150 game engine only supports Max and Maya that cost > $2000. All the other exporters are left to the community. The TGE product page is very misleading in that respect.Quote:Includes mesh exporters for Maya, 3D Studio Max, LightWave, Blender, MilkShape and more.

Dave Wyand has done an excellent job with the Lightwave Exporter. Plus, his "since I'm on vacation and have time to put in LWO export in Constructor..." time is wonderful for creating detailed DTS's to scale.

Well, that's wonderful for people using Lightwave, but I have an entire Game Art concentration full of students learning on XSI and creating models for my Torque programmers because I was told there was an exporter . . . only to see that support evaporate.

Go thou to cgtalk.com and check out the XSI Mod Tool, you can export to the Source engine - maybe you can load your models into a Half Life 2 mod? I know it means dropping Torque for your students, but if GG or a third party won't step up to fill the void, it might allow you to continue with your current art assets... :-(

I'd love to see an XSI exporter as XSI Foundation is one of the most inexpensive all-around tools you can find.Go thou to cgtalk.com and check out the XSI Mod Tool, you can export to the Source engine - maybe you can load your models into a Half Life 2 mod? I have been in game development for a number of years now and have been involved in 3D for ten years plus. XSI is arguably the best all round 3D package, and had really impressed me with it's game focussed tools and its ability to fit into any art pipeline.
Continued support for XSI 6.02 Foundation and more importantly 6.5 < up to >7 should be a real priority for the GarageGames team as a shift away from the gloriously overpriced and increasingly bloated/buggy Autodesk products is already underway in the Industry IMHO
Where are the latest XSI exporters and how stable are they? Has anyone looked into developing a new tool suite for 6.02 + yet? If so are they available?
Thanks in advance guys :)

CROSSWALK is also available for XSI which allows excellent cross platform compatibility with Maya/Max. Its a free download from the Softimage website. Once you download it and install it, the program will automatically source Max/Maya on your machine and install the .dotXSI file format plug ins.I have been in game development for a number of years now and have been involved in 3D for ten years plus.
