Missing text labels?

I installed the new version of Blender (2.44) because the latest version of the exporter (0949) wasn't compatible with the version of Blender that I had. Anyways, I downloaded the latest python install from the python website, and the exporter works fine, but none of the labels for the tabs are visible. I can see button text, but tabs, sequences, etc. I can't.
Thanks for your help!

I found I can achieve this by turning my hardware acceleration down.

Ah! By pure chance I am able to determine that it is, in fact, a hardware error. I opened my laptop today to see an error that said something about hardware failure, and graphics have switched to software rendering. Out of curiosity, I opened blender and checked the exporter, and lo and behold! All labels could be seen! So for now I am just going to have to figure out how to run blender with software rendering when I am using the Torque exporter.I found I can achieve this by turning my hardware acceleration down.
