Character Model Options

The idea for a game I have would have the main player wearing something along the lines of a cloak/trench coat, but without cloth physics, Im thinking that might be a pain. One idea I have is since it will be a FPS, cloth physics wont matter, but then again it will kill me on the inside knowing that I used that to get out of using something else. So, would anyone agree thats a good idea, or could anyone come up with some other options for what he could use. Thanks!

You could model the coat with bones and animate it....that would probably work, but if its a FPS who will ever know but you.
