Needed all aspects of game design

by Txchaser · in Jobs · 07/29/2007 (2:15 pm) · 7 replies

I am trying to find a game designer (flash) or other language that ties into flash easily as well as php scripting that may be willing to take on a partnership in setting up a multiplayer game site as well as other things. This is not a small project and will take time to build up to the point I am wanting to go with the project. I am willing to put in some work but limited since working a full time job and own my own business although I do have a server set up and running at this time and am able to manage most of it given some time. So operating exspense is already taken care of. I am basically putting together a project that takes aspects of other various gamming sites and tieing them all together for one massive site that will offer more than other sites and at the same time be user friendly
and easy to navigate, taking the hassels out of as
much as possible for the end user. There is revenue to
be made for anyone that can grasp the concept that I am trying to put together and I feel a very good return at not just the end point but from the start if all is planned and put together right from the start. I would be willing to deal with more than one partner as long as everyone agrees on the same aspect. I am looking for people that are mature (not as far as age) but in thinking and communications, and that are willing to be dedicated to the project as much as possible. I do understand that we all have lives and that work, home and income needs to come 1st and I am willing to work with this as best possible. If you feel like you may want to be a part of this type of project please contact me for more information. The needed areas are more than just flash or java but includes PHP, MySQL, HTML, graphic artist, Server admin. etc. I will be up front and honest that there is none to little compensation at least untill we can get the 1st leg of this project up and going. I Am now leaning toward C++ for coding and am looking at Tourqe to be used. Please contact me for more info. and be willing to sign confidentiality and non-competition papers.

UPDATE:

I know this posting is old. I have been away for quite a while. I am now back and looking into this project again and have done a little research ect. I have been told that T2d can not be online live but what im looking for is mainly turn based online games. Below is a small outline of what im wanting to build. I am open to the different opinions, outlooks, suggestions, and ideas.

Small Outline:
Put together an online gaming site with emphasis on multi player gaming. To have a site that has the tools and resources that other game sites do not offer and to provide an experience for the visitors / members unlike other sites that has them return daily and to spread the word of a great gaming community.

Options considered and wanted:
Main site look, feel and usage based for the most on the site like Game Desire
Membership system. Paid and non paid members
Sites own leagues and ladder systems like cases ladders / myleague and each club league able to have their own.
Monetary system (ex. - chips, bux, so on) this also needs to be tied to a real money system like pay-pal to purchase more)
Option to create other league or club rooms for their usage.
Web hosting for clubs leagues.
Advertisements shown for non-paid members.
Players own profiles and editable by member, like the background, photo album, ect.
Many other options not listed here.
Games wanted to add in one at a time slowly, all games to be single, 2, and 4 player games: canasta, pool, chess, checkers,
UNO, battleship, bowling, many poker variations, hearts, spades, and so on, more to list but like said it takes time.

Revenue: revenue is to be generated by advertisements, buying bux, chips, paid memberships, web hosting, fees for other things such as upgraded web hosting, tools for clubs, and so on. Being I have a server set up there will also be shout cast hosting, already being set up. I have a few people already interested in signing up for the shout cast hosting. As far as memberships to the game site, I have a pretty decent following to start out with that will sign up.

Compensation: Compensation for time spent on programming, coding, web design, art work ect. will be on a per person basis depending on what services are rendered. The only other stipulation to this are the few people that are signed on to the project long term and are dedicated to the project. Short term will be paid out cash for the agreed price. The ones signed onto the project will be compensated by revenue share.

Revenue share: All revenue share will be divided into different shares. Shares will be divided into various shares depending on what areas are assigned. Example areas: Programming, art, customer service, host, support, server and operating cost, ect. These areas will get a % of the revenue coming in and then divided and split up to the # of people in that area.

My contribution: Concepts, ideas, trying to get a full team together, project management, server management and payment, will help in any way I possibly can with the little knowledge I have but willing to learn and try it doesn't matter if its coding, art or what it is. Any testing needed, advertising, pulling people into the site. Anything else that is needed if possible.

No offense but as I read in the beginning you are trying to make a flash portal? We already have enough sites like that but that may not be what you are making idn I don't understand your post. (First paragraph I read only.)

O k i will try to elaborate a little beter as flash is what I was thinking at 1st but came to realize that it will be a little difficult to do what I am aming for. I am shooting for a major project of multiplayer games as well as single player games with more than just forums ect, tied in. I can not give much more info other than that without having documents signed by any interested parties. I can say that this is not a small project and will take people from all aspects of coding to get this done. I am not just talking about the coding itself but needing databases, php coders artist ect. I was going for the flash based perspective but now in reading and taking a look at all perspectives of the project I am trying to put together I am now leaning toward C++ and the torque way of doing this project.

I think you are looking for someone who can create a flash front end that interfaces with PHP and a MySQL database that is updated in real time, but most of the work is handled on the flash side of things? Along the lines of r-u-n-e scape? I've just setup a division in my business that develops flash based games for businesses, primarily as a way of viral marketing and promotion of products, but will also be looking at creating flash based multi-player games that interface with databases. Drop me an email and we can discuss further. helpdesk(at)something2play.com

Even if some of them act unprofessional at times.

Anyway, in all Honesty. You aren't going to get much of a response if you aren't going to give information up front. From what I have seen from other Indie communities, no one really wants to spend time on something that they have no idea bout (paperwork is tedious also).

Big game companies can just say they want people, because they are paying people. But everyone else needs to have a little bit of information available upfront so that they can pull people in.
