Tnl?

by Jeremy Jenkins · in Technical Issues · 07/27/2007 (9:48 am) · 5 replies

I was just wondering if a lot of people have purchased TNL and if so, what they thought about it. Is it really that helpful?(I mean it should be for $300) Thanks for reading.

You can pick up the source code and judge for yourself. It is available under the GPL. If you are using it for a closed-source solution, you will need the license. But you can evaluate the code for free.

The purpose of TNL is to provide a library for developers that want to use Torque Networking without using Torque. It is not needed (or intended) for anyone that is already using any Torque engine.

Stephen: Oh, I thought it was made to be used for torque. What you wrote makes sense though, since torque already has networking capabilities.

Thanks for the quick replies.

TNL fixes a few bugs which TGE networking has. TNL has not been rolled into TGE yet.

I can see why people are confused about this. If TGE is $150 for indies, and TNL is $300 , I think most people would assume that TNL is not part of TGE, or that TNL extends the capabilities of TGE. So, what is the extra money for? The few bug fixes? If it does fix bugs, it sure would be nice to be able to "roll it into" TGE.
