TGEA and Shadows on Terrain

I have been considering buying TGEA as I already have TGE and like it. I have seen some negative reviews on it lately and I am trying to find out if there is any merit to those.

The biggest thing I have heard as a negative for some projects I would need it for is that it does not Cast shadows on the atlas terrain.

I know we have the source and can fix this. My main reason for posting this topic is this:

Has anyone remedied shadow related issues in TGEA? If so, what type of steps were necessary?

One of the issues that i came across was, i was not able to cast shadows onto DTS objects...
