Terrain Textures

One of the problems with the torque mission editor is that it allows only one detail texture for terrain. My first thought for a solution was to make nice looking ground textures so that a detail tex isn't needed. The ground textures look horrible without the detail tex, and I can't figure out how to increase the detail level.

Is there some way to adjust the ratio of the texture mapped to the terrain? No matter how large I make the texture file, the quality is still the same in the editor (eg. a 256x256 has the same quality as a more detailed 512x512). The pixel-to-earth unit ratio remains unchanged. Can I adjust this?

I am also interested in the answer to this... However I want to add one more question...

Does TGEA allow for more than one detail texture?

If it does it's worth upgrading just for that.
