MAXscript error: "Unknown system exception" in dtsfile

When trying to export using Dark Industries max2dtsExporterPro to export a character mesh (without biped - no animation). I've noticed several others have had this problem, but I haven't seen any answers. Does anyone know how to get around this?

I've tried the older exporter as well, with and without the DTS Exporter Pro loaded. I've watched the youtube videos to see if I was missing something and I couldn't see that he was doing anything significantly different, though I was trying to export a more complex shape. I can export simple shapes quite easily. I got farther by going through milkshape, but there was still some distortion. Progress at least.
