CD Burning Service??

by James Urquhart · in Jobs · 08/01/2002 (4:14 am) · 8 replies

I'm not sure where to post this, so i posted it here.

Lets say i've made my 100% complete game...
What if its too big for the unfortunate people with modems to download on GG?(e.g me)

Will garagegames be supplying an optional "Burn this game onto cd and send it to me" service?

Will there be the option for people to put their own custom graphics/designs onto the cd's and cd cases?

Unless GG has changed their minds, they stated that burned cd's will be nothing more than a normal cd-r with a basic label, as their main thing is Online Distribution.

check the web for media production services (keywords are e.g. +cd +production or +print +cd etc.).
Depending on the amount of cds you want to have made, you supply them the cd design and master cd-r, and can have the cdrs reproduced with either thermal transfer print (black&white), ink print directly on cd (same as homemade with a good innkjet printer, but without lable), porous/screen print (minimum amount of CD-Rs you have to order is in the 100s) or unlabled of course. This will cost you ~$5-6 per CD roughly. If you don't have to send them out for no charge at all, you can live with those production costs.
Now if you want your inlets/booklets to be pre-printed, you need to think in bigger dimensions, since you won't be getting that under ~1000 pieces if it is screen print.

Markus.. your point being?.... The question is if Gargagames will allow customized CD covers. The cost of all of this is not something we need to worry about. Garagegames takes care of this for us.. that's one of the reasons they take a nice part of the profits ;)
I think Garagegames will just go for the standard CD/cover too.. love to see it otherwise tough.

Nevermind, I read the first post too quickly and interpreted it as a "what does it cost to have cdrs made". Too much forum posting-illness. sorry ;)

We are not planning on doing custom CD covers for products. GG is a download] service. The CD is a backup only.
