Info regarding product page launch/TGB not launching issue

by Kenneth Holst · in Torque Game Builder · 07/12/2007 (3:12 pm) · 7 replies

*Symptom : You download and install the TGB trial onto a computer that has had an earlier TGB trial expire on it before, attempt to run TGB 1.5, and instead of launching the program you get a browser launch taking you to the product page only.

This is happening only to users who have previously installed TGB and let the trial run out. With TGB 1.5, you should receive a new 30 days trial but instead are being taken to the product page with no way to register the TGB 1.5 trial you have just installed or get your 30 days to test it out.

*Solution : We have identified what needs to be fixed, and are hard at work on the fix as I type this, and will get it out to you ASAP. We apologize for this annoying bug and appreciate your patience as we work quickly to resolve this issue.

Not sure what 'trial' you are talking about. I have a licensed version of TGB 1.1.3.
I don't want a new 30 days to test it out, I just want it to work.

Did a 1.1.3 trial expire before you later purchased it?

In any case, we have a fix for the problem which will be out soon.

Greg,

Did you install TGB 1.5 into a different directory than 1.1.3? If so, please try copying the ignition.dat file from your 1.1.3 'games' directory into your 1.5 'tgb' directory.

Hope this helps,

No change, still shuts down immediately after it starts.

I never had a trial expire on this machine. Then only unusual thing in the console log that I see is
.....
Torque Game Builder (v1.5) initialized...
Set::getObject index out of range.
........

Then is starts to save out preference files and closing windows.

Anything else I can do? Are all Mac users having this issue? I suppose not, it seems like there would be more noise on the forums if that were so.

Frustrating, like having a new car in the driveway but no keys.

Hate to be a bump pest, but is this waiting for a version upgrade to be fixed? Is it widespread, or just a few of us? Indications are that you know what is happening, so I am wondering if there is any temporary fix I can do to get going on this.
