Portals Not Working

I've been trying to get portals to work and since i cant figure it out i figured i'd ask here's an example of what i mean.

What it should look like

This is the example scene relit in Torque. As you can see all of the original lighting is gone.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I've noticed others have had some similar trouble.

Portals never work for me. Except once. I just re exported and it worked. But since then that trick has not worked again. Try that. If no then export it using every other exporter (legacy, map2dif, etc.) and see if that works.

There a some issues with the portals. Some bugs will be fixed in 1.03, but some won't.
The one that trouble me the most is that the baked DTS will not be occluded by the portals.
So be careful in your design.
