Portals are a big piece of ...

Either I am doing something completely wrong, or portals are a big piece of crap. I'm using Constructor 1.0.2 and TGE 1.5.2 and, when I export and import into the TGE, the sun still penetrates the building through the doors. In addition, ALL of my DTS shapes are being drawn all of the time, instead of only when visible, which has caused some serious slow-downs in the engine and forced us to go back to the ugly old way of putting DTS objects into the scene manually, instead of baking in the nice shadows within constructor.

I have a somewhat complicated building that doesn't work, but thought I'd go back to the basics and create a simple box room with 1 doorway. Still nothing works. If I'm doing something wrong, please give me some direction. The lack of documentation for this kind of things is driving me out of my mind and wasting a log of precious time. Here is how my simple building was constructed (and, yes, the portal brush intersects into the walls of the doorway):

PS--> Please ignore the crappy placehoder texture. :-)

Okay .. so here's what's going wrong for anyone else that may have similar issues. Baked DTS objects do not get occluded in the engine, even if the walls of the DIF object do... therefore it renders all of the polygons anyway, slowing everything down. Baked DTS objects offer great visual effect with the more accurate shadows ... but the cost of performance isn't worth if for anything fairly dense ... is it?
