Sound Designer available

First off -- At the moment I'm looking only for sound design work (clashing swords, thunder storms, spacecraft engines, etc); NOT music composition work. Secondly, unless you require a 1000+ sound library, or need extensive field work, I'm willing to work for the experience and credit (free) for any non-profit game.

My main project has been put on hold for the second time in three months, so I'd like to switch my priority to something new. I have experience with RPG, Racing, FPS and Puzzle games. I've had some relatively challenging requests in the past, but I have yet to come across a sound or environment that I can't recreate or invent.

What I can do:

I'm familiar with wav, mp3 and ogg; extensive experience with Sound Forge, Reaktor, and Waves Plug-ins; fully equipped for field/studio foley recording, as well as digital/analog synthesis; and am capable of time-code synced and asynchronous audio for FMV.

All files are appropriately named and put into specific folders, all libraries come with a complete audio design doc, multiple variations are created for each sound, and for large projects, all files will be stored on a high-bandwidth, devteam accessible file server.

I'm familiar with, and am particularly interested in working on high definition audio simulations: multi-sample particle simulation (glass, ricochet, etc), 5.1 surround based audio environments, sounds primed for use with EAX, and engines using advanced sound propagation (e.g. Deus Ex II, Thief III).

Now, what I'm looking for:

A team that NEEDS a sound designer. If your core engine isn't complete (at least alpha), and the sound engine hasn't been designed, I'm not interested. I've done libraries on spec in the past for which I still haven't seen a working demo. Also, please have an idea of what types of sounds you need; detailed descriptions really speed up the design process.

I would prefer working with an older group (I'm 27); but if you're part of a younger team with a nearly finished project (or a functioning tech demo) and are in need of sound fx, feel free to drop me a line.

I'm comfortable in any environment, but I would prefer a structured, goal-oriented project with clear deadlines. The layed-back projects that I've been a part of just don't seem to be able to get off the ground.

Contact me at rsl451@yahoo.com

BTW - If you're a solo-programmer, just looking for a few sounds for your small game, don't hesitate to contact me if you're near completion, I'd be happy to help.

If no one bites, you might look into contributing to the Realm Wars cause. I'm sure the RW and GG crew would appreciate it.

Might also be helpful if you posted a link to a few sound samples. Simple effcts, a weapon or two, a few ambient sounds, that sort of thing.

I've actually had an amazing number of responses after posting in here and two other forums. As far as a demo reel goes, I generally send a specific set of sounds through email to interested teams, per request.

Thanks for the tip Tyler, Realm Wars looks like a great project. I'll see what I can do when the task list comes online.
