GG: Any status update on the final 1.5 release?

I surely hope the Windows release isn't still being held up because of Mac issues. Is it?
Any chance of a release by this weekend, maybe? ;)

I hope you're right because it seems to usually take them a good month to resolve Mac issues and if they're holding up the majority for the minority... well that's very annoying.

The latest round of testing produced some issues that are very much wanted to be resolved before release (not mac just specific) :) Everyone is just trying to make sure this release is as solid as possible, sorry for the delay.

Thanks for the update.

That's totally cool. I'm all for delaying the release if it'll mean a more stable product. I was just wondering if the delay was still being caused by the Mac build so this is good news. Thanks for the update.

I'm one of the people who wants the Windows and Mac versions to be sync'd in release to ensure a feature-rich cross-platform development suite.

Any chance of a Beta 4 just to ensure that there won't be bugs sneaking through like with TGE 1.5?
(in case testing and fixing will need longer)

I just wish there would be a more defenitive date as to when we will see the final version. Good to know though that everyone wants to make this as bug free as possible. Keep it going!

Last I heard: It is apparently done and ready to ship as of yesterday, except the Mac build hasn't been fully tested yet due to our QA department's (Ken) Power PC Mac crashing recently. I'm sure the situation will resolve itself shortly. Either way, though, I doubt a product will be released on a Friday or the weekend.

Thanks for your patience, we just want to make sure that the software is as bug-free as possible and get it to you in a timely manner and we will continue to strive to always be making improvements in this regard.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that QA on TGB 1.5 continues and as soon as the software is ready, we will upload it for you all. I know it's hard not having a solid date, but all I can say is that it is not quite finished in it's QA pass yet, but is progressing nicely and barring any catastrophies, you should all have it sometime soon. Thanks for your patience, we just want to make sure that the software is as bug-free as possible and get it to you in a timely manner and we will continue to strive to always be making improvements in this regard.

I have to agree with David Blake. It's much better to wait, if necessary, to release Mac and Windows versions in-sync with each other. It's *great* being able to build for either platform from 1.5 beta 3. I just select "build" and choose my target platform, and it just magically works. So fantastic. The more I use Torque, the more I'm amazed at what you guys have done with it. Great stuff. Keep it up.

However, this time has given me the opportunity to experiment with and research other development environments/engines and I may be leaving TGB behind very soon, as it's just too unpredictable and I'm tired of constantly changing my game design to accomodate the limitations/bugs in this engine. This thread over at Indie Gamer is really great food for thought and has been very enlightening (though the subject matter moves all over the place, the focus of the thread became about TGB and its pros and cons.)
I'll keep using TGB to finish my current project (assuming 1.5 is released within the next month, anyway) but really, I'm pinning my hopes on the Director release later this year.

I guess this is where the truth of the phrase, "You can't please all of the people all of the time" comes into play because I, on the other hand, am annoyed that I have to wait for the Mac build to be resolved in order to receive the Windows build that contains fixes to the engine that have been ongoing problems for months now. The development of my current project has been at a complete standstill for the last two+ weeks because of the 1.5 delay. However, this time has given me the opportunity to experiment with and research other development environments/engines and I may be leaving TGB behind very soon, as it's just too unpredictable and I'm tired of constantly changing my game design to accomodate the limitations/bugs in this engine. Though I understand your complaints, in our own defense, 1.5 has been a beta so if one were to base development off of this it is a good factor to keep in mind.
Also the release delay isn't completely because of the mac end. We really want to make sure it's solid and have made various tweaks on multiple ends of the build.

So do you feel reasonably sure that if I migrated to beta 3 I could pop the project it right into the final release of 1.5 without any major issues?

@Matt: I agree with you and I had considered migrating my project from 1.1.3 to the 1.5 beta 3 but I was concerned that something might change in the final release that would require another project migration or even cause me to lose some of my work. The reason it concerned me was because there were some major issues in beta 3 that I thought might require start up changes, etc.So do you feel reasonably sure that if I migrated to beta 3 I could pop the project it right into the final release of 1.5 without any major issues?
