What program do I use to create skyboxes?

You could use basically any graphic editing program like Photoshop, GIMP, Paint Shop Pro, Fireworks, etc. If you are looking for a freebie, go with GIMP or PSP which is very cheap.

Thank you, I have some good ideas like a beach or a snow covered place.

You don't need any application to make skyboxes, you can just use the PrintScreen function (on Windows OS) or Command+Shift+3 (Mac OS). However, if you want to make CG skyboxes, feel free to download any image editing program.

PS: I've tried to take screenshots using Celestia, a 3D "universe projection" program. It never worked for me, though.

I'd try Paint. but i'm not a artist. so its very hadr for me with paint. to do one:

1.copy-paste a plain image from My computer to anywhere.
2.right click on the image.
3.select: Open with...
4.click "Paint"
5.draw the skybox

Paint is horrible. Also, it was a useless bump.

I use paint for my WTH Pic Games on the forums :D As bad as it is, you guys are having a tough time to find the mistakes in those pics :D

*totally off-topic post that I did because of HW's post regarding paint, so sorry!*

That is for modifying, not from scratch, though.

Good point on that one. It can be used for basic stuff though.

Actually, after searching around, you can create some pretty advanced stuff on it. See http://nerdparadise.com/tech/apps/mspaint/
