I found a great open source Media Coder that we can all use. Of importance to GG developers is it does Ogg, both Theora (video) and Orbis (Audio) conversions. A DVD movie file that is about 4GB in size compresses to 250MB in Theora. I have done it and have found no loss in quality in either Audio or Video. They are perfect for Video presentations using this forum resource. Also use the .ogg Audio format for sound effects.

Orbis file can be as small as 1/10th the size of an mp3, great compression and great for streaming.
Here's where it is:
mediacoder.sourceforge.net/
With the Theora Control displayed in this resource from Zod's plan;
