Strange resource problem

I don't know if my copy of tgb is just messed up or what but for background purposes I have both the beta and regular tgb installed in different directories. The problem I'm having is with the non beta version.
I downloaded the car resource which comes with a top down car art and a track image as well as controls for the car. I load this resource into my project and click save, and then I save the level. I load in two cars and save and run the project runs perfect.
I close TGB, reopen TGB and my project and it unloads the resource. There's 2 blank sprites now. I go in to the resource section and sure enough it's unloaded I go through the whole process again always the same result. I can't figure it out at all I never used to have this problem. Maybe if I can't figure it out I'll just stick to using the new beta version
