Manipulating Prefabs in Script

I have a project I'm working on to generate procedural areas. I've been able to make sparse files containing my data, and now I'd like to put that data into torque difs.

How do I get prefabs to work in a script file? And where can I find documentation on the process? I'd like to take prefabs, put them into an array and use them like tiles.

    I'm highly interested in these avenues of procedural .dif creation, if it makes in difference.. :)
