Billboard problem

I am having a problem with a billboard. In showtools pro I can see my billboard when I view it in the shaded soilds, but when I view it in the textured shaded soild mode my textures on the billboard are behind the character and not on the billboard itself. Can anyone help me on this problem and let me know what I am doing wrong.
