TGE and TGB -- both?

Hello,
I've been looking at TGB and TGE for sometime and played around with the demo for TGB. I'm trying to choose, which one or are both need to develop a game. I know that TGB itself is a stand alone pacakge, but does TGE also stand on its own, with its tools. Does it require TGB to use the tools for design and development.
Torque X; will have at some port a 3D ability. The game we are currently developing , some what retro game would use 2D/3D parts, but TGE would allow for more room to grow. TGE itself has more art content, then TGB but that will more then likely change. Could anyone give me some impression about TGB and TGE, and what if any stuggle you had with determining which product to purchase.

TGE is a stand alone package with the exception of asset creation, just like TGB. Where as TGB relies mostly on 2D art (usually created in Photoshop or GIMP), TGE relies on 3D content creation for shapes (Maya, Max, Blender) and buildings/interiors (Constructor, Quark).
TGE contains editors for creating and modifying missions, particles, and GUIs. The GUI editor for TGB and TGE are nearly identical, but all of the other editors are radically different. While powerful, the TGE editors are less intuitive when compared to the massively user-friendly interface found in TGB.
If you are looking to create 2D based game play with 3D appearance and imaging, or you are just beginning with Torque Tech., go with TGB for now.
Going with TGE awards you a lot more content, resources, and 3D realm/game play creation, but has a steeper learning curve and requires more effort to edit.
When you are finally adept at Torque Tech, you can eventually opt to combine both for a truly amazing hybrid engine, capable of 2D, Pseudo-3D, and pure 3D game play.
