Help with TGEA

by Izzardius · in Torque Game Engine · 05/28/2007 (9:48 am) · 9 replies

I've just started using TGEA and I'm running into a bizzare problem-In the Getting Started tutorial it tells me to look in the Toruque/SDK/example folder-I don't have this folder at all. Is TGEA structured differently or am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated-thanks!

I don't have a TorqueAdcanced folder either-the folders I have when I open the TGEA folder are:
starter_water_demo, terrain_water_demo, demo, profile, shaders, show, profile, creator, and common

Ok, then thats correct. Example = TGEA then. Your demo folder is just a test mission with the explanation of torque and all its features. The terrain water demo is some nice looking terrain and water put in a mission. Profile stores the info for a video card and it tells the engine what it is capable of. Shaders contains the HLSL files needed for making objects look shinny or reflective. Show...not sure what this is. Creator is the scripts for the mission editor and gui editor and common is scripts necessary to run the game.

    Edit:
Are you referring to using the demo of TGEA, or the full SDK with source code?

It's the full version, although I think I've figured out why I don't have the folder-thanks.

How do you have the full version when in your profile it says:

    Notes: -none-

If you actually purchased the product and downloaded from GarageGames, it would say:

    Notes: Torque SDK Owner

    Whats going on there?

Myself and a group of friends purchased the engine as part of a student organization-although the license only allows one person to have the source code on their computer, so he shows up as the owner of the SDK. Don't worry, it's all legit :)

Ok, sorry I wasn't sure. Did your group get that educational package or just the regular indie license?

    Edit: spelling :)

I believe we have the educational package, but I'm not positive. The leader of the group (the one with the source code) has been out of contact for a while so I've been unable to ask him about this. But I'm pretty sure he just forgot to give us all the folders we needed. We're all new at this :)
