Windows Vista Issues with TGE 1.5

Has anyone had trouble getting your TGE 1.5 stuff to run smoothly on Windows Vista? We've got a couple of serious games we have built in 1.5 that run nicely on XP, but we try to run them on Vista and they are very "jumpy". We've tried using both OpenGL and DirectX. The DirectX is the best of the two but it is still jumpy. Does anyone have any advice on what is causing this, and how to go about fixing it? Thanks!

Tge 1.5 runs fine on my vista system. 1.3 runs jumpy on vista for me. are you running in full-screen mode? if not then that's the problem. I think the vista os uses a considerable amount of hardware video ram so running the game in windowed mode just adds to it. I get improved performance in 1.5 on vista when I switch to full-screen mode.

TGE 1.5 definitely runs much smoother in full screen mode on Vista. I would agree that the OS seems to be hogging a disproportionate amount of memory for it's background processes. But none the less there is still more jumpiness than I get running on XP. I have heard rumor that Vista isn't doing as much to support OpenGL as they are with DirectX, there's a big surprise. It would be nice to see some GG feedback on any testing they have done in Vista with TGE or TGEA.Thanks to everyone for their input.

Vista is very graphics intensive. The whole core is labour intensive on graphics cards. XP and previous versions all use virtual and physical memory for graphics, where as vista now uses the graphics card. I have read this somewhere but can't remember where. I think its an underlying issue with Microsoft and vista does have some memory leakage in places. I have a test machine set up with vista ultimate however I haven't tried TGE on it yet.

Testing in Vista has been some limited quick runs to guage the current level of compatibility with our engines.

I suppose that with openGl vista have a problem in memory allocation ....
For the future I think that GG must change definitly TGE in TGEA with new and best graphic library DX !!!
DX8 are old for this time !!!
What do you think about this ???
