IBM and Sun Launch Intranet Metaverses

Quote:Most interesting to game developers, IBM (which also runs a private, no public access Second Life island as a development lab) created their intranet world from the 3D Torque engine from Garage Games.

Cool stuff!

Unfortunately.... GG isn't linked in the story. :(

The link in the story gigaom.com/2007/05/15/here-come-virtual-world-intranets-seriously/ does have a link to GG in it though.
It also links to a site eightbar.co.uk/2007/05/08/the-ibm-innovate-quick-internal-metaverse-project/ where the guy from IBM kind of explains what they are up to.

It's a shame that all the people reading/commenting this are blabbing about second life, when the story is more about in house worlds using other software. (Like torque)

Interesting stuff, but I can't see it taking off too well.
I couldn't imagine looking up some FAQ's on an 'raid controller' just to find that I need another 5 adventuring levels and a key in the shape of a dragon to get access to it =]

"Sorry guys, I can't attend that meeting I'm not keyed yet."

I'd love to join your conference, Dennis, but I'm already saved to that conference room from the meeting on Wednesday.
