Any progress on TorqueX? (eg. no updates in a while)

Has there been any updates to TorqueX recently?
I know the platform game starter kit was released, but has there been any updates to TorqueX itself?
I'm still looking forward to having Pixel/Vertex Shader v1.1 support (instead of requiring v2.0) so I can develop on my laptop.

Hmm, maybe I am mistaken... I could've sworn it was released though? (maybe it was on the GG Test Group on Google but I can't seem to find any e-mails related to it on there either...)

What is the GG Test Group?

Whew! - I am intersted in it, and have been waiting paitiently for it. I am continuing my XNA work on a SF clone, and am enjoying every minute of it.What is the GG Test Group?

GG Test Group is a group of hand picked GG community members who do closed beta and closed alpha testing of new things coming up from GG and affiliates. It's invite only last I heard.

Platformer starter kit wont be released until TX 1.0 is which has no official release date (other than GG saying "any day/week now"). My guess would be that GG is working on the 3D aspects of TX so that we can have some 3D support in the near future as well as 2D enhancements such as the camera zoom, etc.GG Test Group is a group of hand picked GG community members who do closed beta and closed alpha testing of new things coming up from GG and affiliates. Again, no issues or problems or anything, it just takes time to work things out as to how things should be handled :)

Actually, the delay is not for development work, but for partnership relations with MS. I'm not trying to imply any problems or anything, it simply takes time to make sure everyone is on the same sheet of music, and XNA is a very big product with lots of inertia from Microsoft's perspective.Again, no issues or problems or anything, it just takes time to work things out as to how things should be handled :)

Rut Roh. Don't turn into a linksys support person Stephen. "It's not your router, it's your modem" "It's not your modem, it's your OS" "It's not your OS, it's your router." "But the people who made the router said it's not the router, but the modem" "Then it's not your OS, it's your modem"*thoughts of bombing some buildings*

People asked why there was a "delay", and I explained it. The release is pretty much ready to go, but we're awaiting MS coordination. Creators Club packaging and all that.

I know you guys aren't like that! ;)

I'm just givin you crap because when you said "we're waiting on MS" it reminded me of a time I called linksys about a router issue and the above quotes were pretty close to what happened.I know you guys aren't like that! ;)

Lol, what is it they say, about messengers and blaming them? ;)

1. The developer (in this case, GG) repeatedly telling us that the product is finished and ready.
2. Still no release, with little explanation as to why.
From my past experience, I'm going to make a bet that Microsoft's Xbox Certification team is in some way responsible for the delays. I would trust what Stephen says. I've been on too many projects in which we've kept our customers waiting longer than we'd have hoped because of certification issues.
(And if it's not Xbox Cert, it's some other team within MS. Maybe Vista compatibility issues, cross-platform issues, or something of the sort -- but I'm just speculating.)

Based on the facts:1. The developer (in this case, GG) repeatedly telling us that the product is finished and ready.
2. Still no release, with little explanation as to why.

What will the 3d file format be for TorqueX 1.0?
Glad to know it's done and just waiting for red tape to release. I've very excited about being able to use TorqueX for 3d game development.

That never has included 3D. 3D is scheduled for a later release.

@Anton: Don't read too much into things...all I'm saying is that the target release we had for 1.0 is internally ready (it's getting extended testing of course since we have more time than we expected). That never has included 3D. 3D is scheduled for a later release.

Thanks for letting me know. Good to know. Sad. But good to know at least.

3D is well on it's way as we've been working on post-1.0 for several months now. Believe us, we want 1.0 out there so we can start kicking out post-1.0 beta's and get some of this newer stuff tested. It's pretty irritating, actually, because we want to release as soon as possible so some of the nicer features got held out of the 1.0 release branch because they could theoretically cause problems and we want to be able to release as soon as we get the word. We've had non-critical code lock on 1.0 since mid-december. :(

So let the closed beta group (or the GGTP group) do closed post-1-early-beta-cuz-ms-slacks testing =)
