TGEA speed

I just downloaded the demo of TGEA to try it out and see if it can do what I want. I have no torque experience, but I'm not new to game development, scripting, 3D art/animation etc.

Everything looked good until I tried a speed test using FRAPS. On a dual Xeon 2.80GHz with a Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra I was getting very poor frame rates, average 80 fps. Considering the demo only has a few normal mapped walls and 1 low res character it seems this engine isn't capable of a first person shooter, but geared more towards smaller projects like marble blast. Not knowing much about the editor yet, I worked out how to add more orcs and after adding 8 more I was down to 40 frames per second in the demo.
Am I missing something? is this really slow because the editor is there, or is there some way to compile the scripts to speed things up?

From what I've seen so far TGEA looks very nice, and has all the needed tools, it just seems too slow to do anything complicated? Is this a fair assessment, or am I missing somthing being so new to it? There didn't seem to be a lot of documentation for the demo either?

Thanks,

Richard

You should Start with TGE first, because there are plenty of books, resources, and GG is updating the TDN.
