What difficulty are you having Daniel? As far as I know, the TGE installer works as you describe.1. Double click installer
2. Choose install path
3. Install
4. Start modifying scripts and engine code

What i mean is after that in linux you need to compile the engine if you want to begin to make game (i just want to do the basic and not modifie the engine) just like in windows with the installer click and run. because in linux you need to compile and i got error i try to remove the line 37 they said in the error compile. but is not the same line and i tried to find but nothing

Linux binaries can be markedly different in nature for a community supported release. At least after a clean compile on a machine, you are closer to supporting what someone has for their flavor. It's not as huge a mess as it once was, but it is can be a huge support issue.

Also, keep in mind that linux distros are different. To support all the major flavors and their differences would be a CM nightmare!! It is easier to list the libs/tools required and then have the user compile the code.

TGE-L 1.4.* had installers, I know :) for I made them.. Not sure why 1.5.* does not, my assumption is that the person maintaining 1.5.* does not have the installer software installer nor the license key to generate the installerAlso, keep in mind that linux distros are different. Yes. I have TGE running in Linux. Up to and including 1.5.1. If you browse this forum, you'll find every change necessary has been listed by users here.
My personal feelings are that Daniel isn't particularly right, as I despise installers [despite being a committer to loki_setup].
Linux is not a trivial platform to build on. TGE *should* build out of the box on all platforms, and I have zero attachment to a binary that would come in the box.

Yes you right Gary, but Daniel bought something he wanted to install and run, not install, spend hour/days searching/ hours fixing and still not work perfect. Witch is what i wanted to, but i spent the time to get TGE running, it dosent sound like that what Daniel wants to do.

That's true, but it should be noted that torque is a game engine, from source, that is almost garaunteed to be incomplete for your needs, unless your needs are really, really, slim.
I mean, I get the point; Torque should run out of the box, and it doesn't. See this thread for more information. Basically, GG doesn't feel it's worth the time to make TGE run on linux, anymore.
I don't feel an installer is really useful, personally [I really despise installers]. A zipfile works fine for me :-)

And, in their defense, it is no longer intimated on the site that Linux is anything but community supported.

And you guys are right. No defense needed. As i would like TGE to run out of the box, i also like to learn more about linux and programming, so for me im fine with seaching and fixing. I've learned a little more with my upgrade to 1.5

There's no real nice way to say it -
If you need an installer for Linux - you shouldn't be developing on Linux.

You know it's bad enough that it looks as if GG is trying to kick linux out the door, but the snide remarks are a bit much.
