AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!HHHHHHHHHHH!!!HHHHHHHHHHHH!!HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AHH!!HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The people who made Determinance read my mind!!!!! And they did it when I was getting close to finishing the sword fighting for my game. You people should be ashamed, just because it looks like its the best game ever made in the history of man-kind that ever was and ever will be, doesn't mean you should steal other peoples thoughts!

Well, after downloading and playing the demo for Determinance, I decided not to throw myself off the roof.
Thats right, I will go on living, and I will keep making my game. About the only similarity between are two games, are that both use the mouse to control the sword in someway.

So hold off an any award giving, my games not down yet!

I've long held the belief that, in the creative fields, when you have an idea at least five other people in the same field have at least thought of it, or are thinking of it at the same time. It's the "Simpson's did it" effect.

There's actually a pretty old game that also used the mouse to control your sword/axe/mace/etc... It was called Die By the Sword. I haven't tried Determinance yet but there are probably some similarities between these two. You might want to check if a demo is still around to try it out. I remember being addicted to this game for a little while when it first came out. It was just a lot of fun hacking body parts off of monsters. I think a sequel to this game came out too but I'm not so sure if it followed the same control scheme.

Like Scott said, I believe every game idea I've ever thought of must have come up many times already. If it's an idea you really like, just keep going at it and fine tune and polish it into the game you really want it to be.
