Changing texture creates new brush

This is an odd one. I'm working on a street scene so to keep the resolution nice and not exceed 512X512 I created the building face as four separate tiles each 512X512. Essentially lower left, upper left, lower right, upper right. I can easily clone/duplicate it from there as long as I'd want. The problem came up when I tried a short cut. I took the first wall panel and Duplicated it to create four identical segments, two high and two wide. The problem obviously is the texture is the same on each so I one by one selected the proper textures and applied it. That's when I noticed the three clones had the old textures bleeding through. Turns out when I tried to apply new textures it created a whole new brush sharing the same space. Seems like a bug because applying a texture shouldn't create a new brush. Now this only happens when I duplicate a brush. It seems like they are "Incidenced" and not copied. Is there anyway around this? Kind of a hassle if this is the way it works. Say I want to make a stack of crates by duplicating them. I'd like to be able to change the texture on some. Got to believe this is a bug though. Applying a texture shouldn't create new geometry.

I'm having a blast with Constructor there's just a few bugs I've run onto. That one threw me because at first I thought it was layering textures with transparency but then I noticed when I changed textures the number of Brushes went up.
I'll post a follow up once I try it again. If I can reproduce it I'll post steps. I know I had some PC lighting issues that were PC specific.

I'm stumped. I just tried it again and now it's working. It happened strickly when the object was dulplicated. It was on my Mac and that machine is tied up on a download for at least another two hours. It may be a strictly Mac bug. It absolutely was doing it the other night because I tried it a dozen times on one scene and it happened everytime. I did manage to reproduce it on the Mac because I even restarted the software and had the same problem. Like I say it was when an object was duplicated and it seems to be unique to the Mac. I'll try it again after the download is finished and make sure it's still there. I'll try to get the issue using default textures so it's reproducable.I'm having a blast with Constructor there's just a few bugs I've run onto. Well I tried again and no luck on the Mac. It may have been a random issue that cleared after the software was shut down. I'll repost if it happens again. Guess I can chalk it up to gremlins. It was definitely driving me nuts the other night. Just glad it's a rouge issue and not a real bug.

I agree that applying a texture should not create new geometry. I've tried to duplicate here what you've described and cannot obtain the same effects. Here's my steps:
1. Make a single cube with the tool's default values. In this case I'm using the UVCHART128 textures.
2. Use the Rest On Ground tool on the cube just to make it nice, :o)
3. In Brushes selection mode and the single cube selected, using the Axis Gizmo I SHIFT-drag a copy to the right. Then a copy above and the above-right. This leaves me with four cubes.
4. In Faces selection mode select one of the cube's faces.
5. Go to the Texture Browser and choose and activate a new texture. In this case I'm using FLOOR_SET_STONE from the TGEDemo album. Close the browser.
6. Using the Apply button at the bottom of the Materials Form I apply the new texture to the selected face.
7. Choose one face on each cube and apply the new texture forming a common wall.
8. Looking at the Brushes branch of the tree view in the upper right of the default layout I only see my four cubes. And using various methods of selection within the perspective viewport I may only select four cubes. There is no visible shimmering from faces sharing the same space that I can see.
Is there something you're doing that I didn't cover in my steps? Are you able to reproduce the error you're seeing in a step-by-step procedure?
Thanks!
