Blender goes open source

by Mike Stoddart · in Artist Corner · 07/05/2002 (1:42 pm) · 25 replies

I just read on Slashdot that Blender is going open source. Here's the article:

slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/07/05/2023216&mode=thread&tid=126

I don't know if it's possible to use Blender with Torque, but maybe someone might shed some light on this.

It should be noted that according to their website, blender won't be released under the GPL until they receive $100k in donations.
More info here: http://www.blender3d.com/

Blender does seem to be a pretty interesting tool, from what I have seen of it. It would be great to have a modeler that we could use on any platform (one more reason to justify getting a TiBook ;)

Blender has been wonderful to use. The biggest key to using Blender is to get the Blender 2.3 Guide. http://www.blender3d.com/e-shop/ I've been making some beautiful QuickTime movies. The international wire cost $25 for me and I got the book in two weeks. Blender is fairly easy to learn, it just takes some time.

I have a question though. What is the easiest way to find the Blender DTS plugins to use the ExportDTS.py?

The http://www.janw.gothere.uk.com/ site? Which to download?

Thanks
