Team name:

Project name:
NORAD "Everything you need to blow up the world 2000 times over. Except the will to do it."

Brief description:
Ground Zero Entertainment is a recently formed group of serious, creative individuals with a FULL TIME lead, who are looking to move into the gaming industry on a project which won't overwhelm us with $20 million worth of graphics development, but has decent commerical potential IF we can provide a rich experience and level of immersion through design and audio environment.

Please see the member/team list below for an idea of the kind of people you will be working with for 5 to 10 hours a week, including music help directly from Hollywood.

Our first project has the working title, "NORAD". It is a game which will allow players to step into the shoes of the greatest world leaders making decisions on how to keep minor crisis from exploding into an all out nuclear war which they could lose (or at least launch them in a way which is the "least losable"). In Version 1, it will be a game. Not a simulation. But a fun game. Unit types will include spy planes, carriers, ICBM silos, ABMs, missile cruisers, attack subs, two types of radar installations, rapid deployment paratroops, and satellites, among others. Sound like the Cold War? You bet.

Target aim:
1. To be a preferred "speculative effort investment group" for coders and creatives serious about getting into the fun (but not easy) and growing field of computer gaming and to accomplish this with a well thought out plan, a clear membership document, excellent organization, and well defined revenue and ownership sharing programs which recognise an individual's contribution to the effort.
2. To have a commercially viable product available for sale by November 15, 2008
3. To launch this project with a qualified, engaged, enthusiastic, participatory team and a finalized membership document by May 15, 2007.

Compensation:
The work will be unpaid until release, at which time contributors will earn a share of the revenues based on the hours they have worked. Once you have put enough hours in on the project (tracked by a google spreadsheet which everyone can see, but only you and I can manipulate), you have the ability to become a partial owner of the product and group. Until then, you will be rewarded with a share of revenue associated with this project as indicated above, and laid out in the membership agreement I will be providing. When you get in touch with me, I will get you the details.

Technology:
We have decided on doing the graphics side of this game primarily using Torque and coding in C++ and TorqueScript.

Talent needed:
Right now, we really need someone who has a good feel for TGE (Torque Game Engine). If you think you have an "intermediate" understanding of it, we would like to hear from you.

Other help we could use:
You don't need to be a rocket scientist. You don't even have to know what an ICBM is! But if you have a good knowledge of any one of the following: Torque, AI coding, GUI design, scripting, etc., and you have an interest in strategic games and gaming on a 3D Earth in a project that is designed to be done in 18 to 24 months and would like to sign on to a team with a full time lead/coordinator committed to making a living at this, drop me a line. We would love to hear from you. We would also be happy to hear from any people with a strong understanding of C or any C variation or who has mastered the nuances of spherical vector geometry and mathematics.

If you join, you will have to make deadlines. But at no time will I *expect* a team member to work more than 5 hours a week. Think of it as a part time job which we both take seriously. People who exhibit a lack of desire to participate on the team in a manner everyone has agreed to will be "let go" immediately (but will still receive credit for time worked). I am not interested in having a few members bringing other hard working contributors on the team down.

Of course, if you need to "quit" to move onto something else (as it DOES happen in life, we realise this), then just give us 2 weeks notice. No hard feelings.

Sound like a serious group? With a structured plan and cyber environment? It is. And people can tell. We are currently entertaining a $5500 investment offer, as well as two smaller ones.

If you're not up for 5 hours a week regularly (some members are signing up for 10 minimum, for which they get a bonus), posting your hours in a simple 2 minute process on days you work, and being reachable by phone (you will not be called at your "day" job!) once May 15 rolls around, don't apply. We have a seriously talented group forming here and we are not desperate for just anyone. Our well thought out plan, professional members, and membership document put us a cut above many other "help wanted" opportunities. It is how we attract talent like the individual from Hollywood and a whole team in Buenos Aires. People who could well go elsewhere with their extremely valuable, professional time but find the potential rewards on our serious team to outweigh the risks.

You may wonder where I am coming from on this post. Actually I am just a pretty friendly guy who is now responsible for the satifaction and rewards for a team of good people who deserve nothing but the best and transparency from their team mates. This is a start up company. Other people will buy equity with money. Being an experienced coder/creative, you have the ability to buy equity with your time. If you view it like that too, we would love to have you on! ;D

Website:
Our team is using the following Google Group site as a virtual office...

You're welcome to drop by. It will only be open for the next few weeks. Then I will have to close it to the public.

Another content related site was put up a few days ago:

The Website is still under construction. Here is some of the work:

Ok, I'm in. I'm available for Skype meetings. Keep me posted when you'r ready to add Sound Design and Music. Your concept is awsome. And the tagline definitely got me hooked.
