Problem with Starting on the Mac

by James Daniel · in Torque Game Builder · 04/03/2007 (9:25 am) · 8 replies

I just posted this same thread on the general discussion thread too.

I just downloaded the new Beta and I can't get it to start. I get to the Create/Open dialog box just fine but I can't load any of my projects, even the demo/tutorials. Nor can I create a new project.

When I try to create a new project I get to the New Project dialog box and with the default setting for everything and click create and get the following error message

Unable to Load Project

The project file you're attempting to open was created with an incompatible version of this software.

Conversion of 1.1.X projects will be addressed soon, we apologize for the inconvenience.

I get this same error message when I attempt to load a project.

I still have TGB 1.1.3 installed, could this be causing the problem? Also TGB 1.5 Beta installed.

If you are trying to run the demo/tutorials from the 1.1.3 installation directory that would be a problem because the directory structure was changed for 1.5 and as the dialog says "Conversion of 1.1.X projects will be addressed soon, we apologize for the inconvenience." I'm also on Mac and was able to run the behaviors playground project which is in the 1.5 folder under (games/BehaviorPlayground/). You might try running that. As for making a new project, that still doesn't seem to work on the Mac but I'm sure it's being addressed.
good luck! :)

Thanks Kodafox, I can get it to start with the behaviours playground, but I still can not create a new project. Also I moved copies of the tutorials to the Beta games folder and still no joy. I think the problem is that there is no project file (t2dProj) for the tutorials yet. I was hoping to create some project files myself if I can just get the create new projects to work.

I too am on a Mac and have this issue. Workaround: duplicate the playground file, rename, open in TGB, delete art-assets, load your own stuff :)

Thanks for the work-around. Has this been reported as a bug yet?

Yes, I have posted it as a bug.

I cannot get the assets to delete. The delete button doesn't work.

@Jeffrey: You're right. I jumped the gun. I can delete assets I add but not the original assets for the playground. Anyone else experiencing this?

If I delete the assets manually, and the datablocks also, it starts to crash.

@GG employees--are you guys looking for a comprehensive list of bugs? Maybe you're aware of what needs fixing.
