Scalability of servers. What do you sugest.

My team is planning on building a MMORPG (at the moment we are finishing our fund raising efforts) So Torque advanced engine and mydreamrpg's Titus software are first on our buy list. In many reviews i've seen the network described as being able to handle "hundreds of players," I imagine this is right out of the box.
Now for a startup mmorpg being able to handle a few hundred is pretty good per server, but if (When :) ) we hit bigger numbers server capacity will need to be higher. So this brings me to TNL In my case, would buying TNL allow me to secure the kind of scalability for thousands of users per server that I may need?
