I have Windows vista and what are the good programs that I can model and animate my own characters from scratch. Ive tried Milkshape and no luck.

Milkshape is one of the easiest to use (though not as feature rich) modeling programs out there.

If you want to try something different, here's a few off the top of my head that support the Torque dts format:

- Blender
- Lightwave
- Maya
- 3ds Max

I also downloaded 3D World Maker trial and I really like it but is it worth 120 bucks. Maya and lightwave is way too expensive.I will have to try Blender and see what i think. Thanks a bunch Tim

The program i use is Hexagon 2, which i then export to OBJ so i can import it into ultimate unwrap to uv and texture - then from there to many many different formats

Hexagon 2 is a fantastic program, that is sold by Daz 3d. It has many intuitive modelling features, and i use it for buildings, characters -basically everything i model
