Any TGB hobbyists out there?

I've had TGB for about 8 months now. I'm wondering if there are others like me that bought this as something to do as a hobby for now. Currently i'm going into 3d animation next year and plan on taking those skills into the gaming industry. Anyways i'm a huge Star Wars fan and have had an idea to design a side scroller using TGB set in the SW as a Rebel pilot. I've got some things like ships designed right now and have an idea of how I would like the game to pan out but I lack the scripting/programming experience to make the fun, classic game that I envisioned.

Is there anyone out there that would like to lend their programming skills in TGB (I know there are a bunch of you) to help make this arcade style game that would please many Star Wars fans? If you are a programmer that basically lacks the artistic talent required I would gladly lend my support in helping create anything you need done in your games as a favour for helping me out programming wise.

I look forward to any replies and hope to see some Star Wars fans in this community like myself.

Thank you

Jeremy

@Jeremy, since your topic implies something different, I'll reply to what it implies...

I am a TGB Hobbyist, and do just about everything I do with Torque products just for fun ... no real goal in making money, until of course, someone offers up a large lump sum ... then my tune might change, haha ...

As for your game idea, it sounds great, but ... I'm going to have to poke a few holes in it ... unfortunately.

The Star Wars concept is heavily copyrighted, trademarked and ... hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas has a patent on the Deathstar design ... so, I am not trying to discourage the creation of the game, but I would like to make you aware that, if you design it, and release it -- even for free, Lucas Arts, as they almost always do, will most certainly go after you with a lawsuit and either completely abolish your games existence, or 'steal' it from you ... Star Wars is probably one of the largest 'cult' movies to exist, and has a very large following especially since it's available first in Print, then as a movie ... you'd think, such a large concept would generate an onslaught of video games and other such things, but you don't find many Star Wars games, if you find any, that don't have a big fat Lucas Arts logo smacked on them with a price tag ... this is because Lucas is, last time I looked into them, one of the most ferocious companies out there when it comes to protecting there intellectual properties ...

So, I urge you, to do a bit of research, before investing too much time or energy in something that could eventually cause more problems then not ...

Thanks for the quick reply David. I'm not sure how Lucas would react to something like the idea I mentioned above. For one there are numerous fan based movies that have been made and posted all over the internet on sites like the theforce.net. On the other hand this deals with a different division of Lucas so i'm not sure. I totally understand them wanting to protect their IP but I would think that if this was a fan based game made just for some harmless fun you would think they would encourage that, but then again business is business.

@Jeremy, I didn't say they would ... I just wanted it to be something you were aware that could happen ... not everyone thinks about that before they jump head first ... just thought I'd bring it up ...

But in general ... if your looking to do a star wars scroller ... take a look at the scroller demo, everything you need to know about making a scroller game like that is covered there -- if your good with the art, and armed with the scroller demo source and the tutorial that comes with it, you should be able to crack this one together yourself ...
