How do I rig my own characters to work with Torque Motion?

I just purchased the Torque Motion pack with the intent to rig my own characters to the Adam skeleton. Unfortunately I hit the puchase button before realizing that I tried rigging my character to the Adam skeleton in the past and failed meserably.
Has anyone out there tried doing the same thing and can offer some tips on the easiest way to do this in 3DS Max. Does the root pose have to be the same as Adam's? My character is modeled with arms down on the side.

So I dont have to copy anything from adam I can just rig my character to a biped (which it already is)? And my character does not have to be in the same initial pose as Adam? That sounds too easy to be true, ill give it a try.

If your rig is not working with Adam's animations or Torque Motion animations for Adam, the only problem I can think of is that your model is being export with less dts nodes than Adam. Try having a look in Adam's *.cfg file.Aun.

Is there a way that I can bring my character, created in Maya, and link it
to a skeleton with preset animations inside of Torque? For example, in the
tutorial base examples (www.codesampler.com/torque.htm), there is a default
green monster running around. Can I easily change his mesh to my own
character?
Also, where is the Adam character you are talking about???

@ dcbittorf , you can find the AdamPack in the GarageGames store. If I understand you correctly, you are trying to import a dts model to maya. That would not be possible since there are no dts importers available.@ MB6019 : Torque-Motion is located in Chiang Mai , Thailand.
