TorqueShapes: Starter Content Pack

Hi everyone,
I'm putting together a starter pack for TGE with some basic furniture and other everyday items. Since this is a starter pack for people new to torque, I'm putting 38 items in the pack that I used most often when prototyping. Here's some in-game shots.

I have around 400 other models to scale and convert to DTS and my newer items are more detailed with higher-res maps. Price for the Starter Pack is $8.00

Sounds great! I can really use those objects as well as any other similar ones you have. We'll just have to 'dirty up' the textures though so that they can blend well in our game.Nick

The source files are included in the download, so dirty up the textures all you like. Oh, if there are specific items or categories of items you'd like to see please let me know.
Thanks again for commenting.

Thanks for the kind responses. Like I said, these are pretty generic. The intent is to give someone pretty new to TGE some basic, everyday items to use for prototyping. Most of the content packs I've seen are orc related in some way. ;)The source files are included in the download, so dirty up the textures all you like. Here's a render for my Street Pack. These models were made for a more high-poly setting, so I have to trim them down and fix some double faces. Hopefully the GG community will want them.

Since the textures are baked in 3ds Max and not in PSD, I've lowered the price to only $8.00 for the starter pack. The first 5 people to email me directly will get the Starter pack (38 shadow casting dts objects) for free!

The quality of these models are excellent.
There are plenty of models in this pack, more than you realize just by looking at the picture. The models are very detailed, including shadows in all the right places. I especially love the crates. They are done exceptionally well.
Great job on these David, i hope you sell lots of these.

Well, I got one of these for free, but I would have happily paid for them. The quality of these models are excellent.

I hope to sell some, but what I really want to do is find out what the Torque community is looking for in DTS models. I can make anything you can imagine, but I don't want to make a bunch of orc stuff if 90% of the community wants urban or sci-fi stuff.
Feedback is sooo needed! ;)
Thanks again

Hey there, Dave. Do you plan on using Torque to finish Dark Faction 2?-KeithC

What's up man? Aren't you treading in enemy territory here? Just Kidding.
I do plan to use Toque to finish DarkFaction II. My programmer is good at C and should pick up TorqueScript pretty quickly. But until she does, I'm way ahead of schedule because I have all these cools game levels with no functionality other than me running around shooting a rifle with crossbow bolts. Before we're done, I plan to have upgraded to TGEA.
Oh yeah, I meant to ask you this. Would you collaborate in some way? I have so many of my models that I made for Max Realms that still need proper texture maps made.

Let me know what you have planned as far as collaboration in an e-mail (or a PM at OG). Your stuff looks great in TGE; and you can actually make an outdoor level with it.:)

I was a member over here long before I became a Mod for TGC. We hold 3 licenses for TGB, and 2 for TGE (it'll be 3 when I get around to buying my copy; glad I waited though, with all the new stuff they give you). I never really planned on using FPSC for anything other than a few maze levels (as I'm not a coder/scripter), and to sell a few model packs when I'm able to.Let me know what you have planned as far as collaboration in an e-mail (or a PM at OG). I will email you when I get an idea of what the general GG public really wants in a Content Pack. This may take a while as I don't think many newcomers visit this forum right off the bat. I wanted to upload some freebies as a resource, but none of the categories fit "media" on these forums. Do you know of a better place to do this?

If you can't see it, you may have to edit your settings. Don't get discouraged if you don't get too much feedback; I never really get too much discussion for the free stuff here.

I've advertised my free media in the General Discussion, as well as the Freebies section here:http://www.garagegames.com/mg/forums/result.forum.php?qf=144

Cool, thanks Keith. I saw "Public Art" and was thinking renders. I need to think outside of the box more often. ;)

Keith & Dave> thanks to you both for content being offered, I'm a coder by nature but totally new to torque and 3d game programming, whilst I doubt I'll have little problems picking up the code side of things any artwork I'm liking to create myself is going to look like I've let a 2yr old loose with a pack of crayons so free/cheap models are going to be a god sent to me, especially for prototyping ideas.

That's why we made them to offer to you guys, Andy. I'm glad that you can find a use for them. It's good practice for us, and something useful for you; maybe someday when we have something more substantial to offer to the crowd here, we can get a little support ourselves.:)-Keith

The Starter Pack is outstanding. The textures and models is well worth the money and more. Not only that it has the 3ds model with them. I love get the 3ds models because you can import them into any software. I use LightRay3d and 3ds model import very well into it. The model was very very well done. Thanks very much for doing this pack. Outstanding work. Also it come with script file which is very helpful to newie.

@Fucifer: Thank you much for the compliments. If all goes as *planned*, there will be many more packs coming. I just have to get my ducks in a row and rearrange some irons in the fire.

So I think the more useful sort of packs for me are going to be things like characters, vehicles, etc that are more involved in their design or require animation. If there's ever anything I can do to help you out code wise then please feel free to ask, just learning at the moment but will always try and take a look.

Thanks David, to be honest I'm just working my way through the two books to learn right now and reading on the forums to learn from. My knowledge of 3d modelling, texturing, etc is zero right at this moment but if I was to have a look at the parts of a game that I might be able to draw as a non artist it's probably things like boxes, buildings, etc that are static shapes based on some form of box, cylinder, etc.So I think the more useful sort of packs for me are going to be things like characters, vehicles, etc that are more involved in their design or require animation. Anyone have a mirror for this up (the pics at least)? It sounds very interesting, and I'll like to try and get them, but I want to know what I would by trying to buy!
