First Torque Game - Shadow Behind the Leaves

Hey guys, I'm pretty much new to Torque, I know I bought TGE and Finney's book back in June/July 06, but I've barely had time to do anything with it, including my computer's performance issues. Although I have even less time, with end of my A-Levels nearing and University in September, I'm going to try anyway, it's not a complex plan for a game, I am relatively new, I'm just going to use free scripts from this website and things I learn from Finney's book, just to get me started in Torque really.

Shadow Behind the Leaves is a project I started in Dark Basic Pro, due to my computer's performance issues I found it difficult to get anywhere properly, with my test level open I was getting around 8 FPS and when I got close to the building 3fps, with a 10k poly scene (inc. character) and bloom shader running, I couldn't see it going far there. Now that I've rebooted my computer, I could simply carry on...but I backed up the wrong folder *blushes*

So I'm doing a cross over to Torque. Might be interesting. By the way, it's an adventure game, mostly a storyline and nothing special as far as scripts/code go.

Anyway, the game is as follows, you're Onima, a girl living a town, on her morning walk comes accross her brother's dead body, she calls for help and the police come. The police hold an investigation on the crime to find any links with his death, including Onima's house, left out of her house for the day, she is left to reflect on her brother, but on interaction with the police she detects a sense of apathy, as though the police had no care for finding out who killed him. At this point Onima decides to do some of her own 'investigating, this first mission will be trying to get into the morgue to search her brother's body and this is how a whole adventure behind it will happen, but she starts digging deep, really deep, so much so she later manages to pass off into another realm of existence, where one lead leads to another, straying from her brother's murderer to find some disturbing things about the world and then finally seeing how everything will connect in the end.

I've begun with the old Orc dude and started grabbing scripts and will be writing my own, I'll use this thread as an 'early WIP thread', just so I can bombard you with stuff you probably have seen before ;)

Thanks, I hope to get it completed, but as deadlines are looming, after that I may have more time. I know I'm going to have to learn Blender to get my models into Torque, I'm beginning to get my head around it's interface, so that's good. ;)

Cheers.

Okay, I know I've done little on this and I'm a new Torque user (although I bought it almost a year ago), due to deadlines on work, but I've recently just had a stress related medical issue that has meant I need to give up coding for a little while, there probably will be a time between July and September when I can (I say september as I'll be heading off to university), so that means this project won't actually be done for 3 years, so all I can say is adios to any Torque wips for a while. ;)
