Where should I start?

Ok I have not been active in this community for some time. I'm loving what GG and the community has done. Games are everywhere. There's tools and books now. But where's a fella to start? I'm basically at the starting point of the learning curve. My question is more concerned with getting acclimated to Torque.

Should I start with the Essential Guide to Torque, or the other new book? (I forget the name) I have the 3D Game Programming all in one. I liked it but I didn't feel like I knew enough to start a simple FPS project.

So where should I begin? Is there like a Cliff Notes to Torque or the GG community?

Best Advice I can give is ... Start Soft, but Start Strong ... take it easy, don't just try to dive right in ... do the doggy paddle for a little while ...

Learn the scripting language, then move onto learning more complex things like level building, etc ... then start tweaking the examples that are provided until you feel comfortable enough to do things on your own ..

I'm personally opposed to books, I feel most books are usually never worth the pages they are printed on since most topics are so vast and books are usually too targetted on a specific concept or try to grasp too much of the vast concepts and fail to do a good job ... so I won't suggest books, I'll just suggest picking up a copy of Torsion, the latest TGE or TGB and start hacking away at the examples ...
