3D Game Programming All In One - blows

by Kyle \"Double-Helix\" Brechin · in Technical Issues · 03/09/2007 (6:26 pm) · 5 replies

Is a horrible book. I'm so (*&#$ pissed of about it. I bought the first edition a while back, that sucks. So I thought the 2nd would make it that much better, and on top of it, I know this book wouldn't teach me S#$5$% about 3D graphics in depth, so I bought Adv. 3DGPAI1. Which I can't use because I didn't learn anything from the first one!

Is there something I'm missing? I've been reading this book, and not only is it the most confusing thing I've ever read (3D game engine theory was so much easier!!), but it's teaching me absolutely nothing. There is so much S@(#*$& that is missing, Did you expect me to just pick up what "@" does? I DID! BUT YOU SHOULDN'T ASSUME. And why did they pick such a horrible author? I bet if they used someone else, it would've been a tiny bit better.

So does anyone have an recommendations on how to study this book? Or am I F*ked?

Yup and they should just lock this one too.

Seriously, you need to go back to school, develop some manners because its obvious your parents didnt beat you enough, and grow the hell up.

Its too bad nobody told you you had to actually have some "Intermediate" programming skill before it would all make sense, the book isnt designed to teaching you basic programming all over.

If you say you didn't learn anything from the first one, I seriously doubt you read it.

Again, Staff guys, please just lock this one out too. Its total crap and I am ashamed of myself for even bothering to reply to it.

@Ron - the 2nd paragraph of your reply has made this thread worthwhile - it put a smile on my face and certainly brightened my day - I thank you

I bought the book and I've been going through it for 3 or 4 months now. I have run into to many problems with it. If you get stuck you should post where your getting stuck at on the forums instead complaining or Criticizing someone elses hard work. Books are not easy to write and exspecially when the technology advances as the book is being wroten.

Everyone who is writing bad thing about Kyle should just stop. I gave him some advice and so did others; besides we are wasting our time, because I looked at his profile and he doesn't even have GG license. His profile says he has experience in C++ so he shouln't have that hard of a time with the book or maybe he just needs to brush up on his C++.
