There's also Dreamer's MMO Kit which will save you a LOT of work. See www.myDreamRPG.com.

I believe GG is planning on officially supporting the Minions of Mirth Kit too, I can't seem to find any info on it ... but I remember reading about it a while back --

I keep finding posts from 5 years ago about this planned release or that planned improvement... I can't put my project on hold for that long! =D

That would be awesome... But given the size of GG's to-do list, I won't hold my breath for anything "planned". I keep finding posts from 5 years ago about this planned release or that planned improvement... I can't put my project on hold for that long! =D

We have TGE and TGEA builds running right alongside one another. It's pretty cool stuff and includes EVERYTHING needed to create and administer a real working MMO. GarageGames will have some news in the near future. In the meantime, there is some information available at http://www.mmoworkshop.com

Yes, Torque is capable of creating a MMORPG. Prairie Games and GarageGames are working together on a MMO technology product. It is an improved version of the technology which runs Minions of Mirth, a commercially successful indie MMORPG, with over 35,000 registered players. There is no make my game button. You have to work hard, and it takes skill. Your demanding of a yes or no answer proves that you need to step back and reassess your skills as a whole.
My advice: learn what you're doing, and quit filling every other thread with the same question. I'm not trying to be mean, though its 2 AM so it may have that effect on me.... but stop thinking you can make an MMO with your current skills. Just stop it. You have a very long way to go before you can handle something as massive as an MMORPG. They seem cool, but either have a very skilled and determined team (cheers to all of you, you're doing the impossible!) OR work on other things, build your skills, and become part of something bigger later.

Your posts have terrible grammar. You act impatiently. You seem to gloss over any information thrown at you and continually ask your one single minded question. There is no make my game button. You have to work hard, and it takes skill. Your demanding of a yes or no answer proves that you need to step back and reassess your skills as a whole.

I think the question you should be asking is... Am I capable of creating an MMORPG?
#13
What are you capable of?
03/09/2007 (7:26 am)
Tim hit this on the head. TORQUE is capable of anything, you have the source code and can write anything you want. What are you capable of?

"Anything?" Can it get me a date with the hot chick down the street? (with the right source code)

Why the hell do you want to make another MMORPG? How about a game like Neverwinter Nights. Now that can be done with Torque without changing the engine. Why not make that game. Why do people want to make their own MMO? Hell, why do people play MMOs? LOL. I guess the ants of the world have to have their own games too. ROFL!!
EDIT: oops, talking to the wrong person :P

This is getting silly. I can not tell if you are serious or not because of all the LOL's and ROFLOL's.
Back when FPS's were hot, 'everyone' wanted to make them. Now MMO's are the big thing, and 'everyone' wants to make them. Some people (like yourself) does not like MMO's, and that is perfectly ok. You are free to avoid such games just like I am free to avoid genres I dislike.
I can not see anyone telling others (or yourself) to avoid making casual games. Of course, there is a huge difference in scope between MMO's and casual games, but my point is that I could not care less if some random internet ROFL OMGZ U R MAKING AN MMO FFS THEY SUCK type likes the game I am making/playing or not, because that is none of his business.
There are technical and financial barriers with making MMO's and I think it is good when people point these difficulties out, unlike the above.

I didn't say ROFLOL. I said ROFL. There is a big difference between the two. Just like there is a big difference between an RPG and an MMORPG. RPGs are cool and MMORPGs suck.
Nah, I'm just kidding around. I don't really care. The only thing real that I said is that one can make a multi-player RPG like Neverwinter Nights without having to do all the big engine changes to Torque.
As for 'people' like me who say insightful... sorry, inciteful things in threads... well, I just got thru with a big milestone and I'm bored, what else do I have to do? I already watched 300 last night. I suppose I could go see it again. Yeah. Good advice Stefan. I'll go see 300 again.

@Anton, I wanna see you code "Neverwinter Nights" without modding the engines source -- :)

I will do it tomorrow!! I'll give you the finished work on Sunday!!
Seriously though... I mean a multi-player RPG, not NWN itself.
