Resizing a particle emitter

Im using a particle emitter to try to simulate smoke and fire coming out of a whole in the ground (yeah, a volcano!), but the emitter is to small for the hole. I how do I resize it because the standard resizing has no effect?

You will need to edit the scripts that produce the particles.
Resizing the emitter won't do anything for you.

I presume its the particleEditor.cs script.. Any idea what part Id need to change? Sorry, Im totally unfamiliar with code.
