I was wondering if we have an updated release date, since its may and all threads i can find , slate the release for end of april, anyone know anything more?.

There is no release date as of yet. Consider the size of the task: it would be like you and another programmer trying to turn the Quake I source code into a fully developed SDK. Add in the considerable delays that "real" life has thrown at the GG staff and you can see why this is taking so long. They may have to change the release date to "when its done". I know that would be very disappointing to all of this here but it may be necessary. My personal guess as to when the V12 will be released is end of May (barring anymore real-life delays). It is very likely that the GG staff simply doesn't have an estimate and doesn't want to let anyone down.

When it's done is a terrible answer. Always has been, always will be.

They know it's in the best interests of their company to get it out soon. Start some cashflow, make some deals.

It's not even mi-May yet, they are only a few days late.

That being said, give us a bone :) Tell us you are revising the schedule, waiting for the next T2 patch or something :)

Yes i understand but as Edward says throw us a bone, i for one have absolutly no doubt as to weather i will purchase the V12 licence, its a forgone conclusion as far as im concerned, and it is only just May, i hope we dont have to wait another month but if so, so be it. ok back to making models cya.
Note: i also understand that release dates are elusive creatures to catch hehe.
oh and if I as programer tryed to do this with someone else it wouldnt get released at all as im a modeler and have very little coding knowledge. but thanx for the info guys.

I'd rather set a release date later than expected and if something happened, it'd be closer to being on time, and if something didn't, then release it early if you wanted...

For V12 news, check the V12 forum :)

Rick posted an update (May 2) in the V12/Technology forum. Our plan is to post weekly updates instead of trying to pin down a fixed date. Hopefully this will give everyone a better idea of how things are going.

I have been following the updates posted by Rick and really do appreciate these.
One suggestion, these updates come across as status reports of the work that has been done, but do not give a good indication of what is left and what percentage this remaining work is of the outstanding tasks. If we knew what portion of the work is still left then it may be easier to anticipate how much time it will take to release.

I agree with Kamal.

While it is nice to see what work has been done, I think most people who check development status forum are interested in one thing, the bottom line, i.e. when is the V12 engine going to be released.

So it would be nicer to see a schedule of remaining tasks and a release date rather than a list of previous tasks that have been completed.

Release dates are always hard to track down, but I like the idea of being able to see the tasks remaining. That way, we can at least guess at a release date, and watch the list tick down.

You can always guess what is left to do! =) (not!)

I'll talk to Rick about his task list and we'll see about getting something posted.

Today's update does provide the outstanding task list and I think that is great. Thank you for acting on this suggestion.

It would be fantastic if the next update would show which of these tasks are now complete and which are still outstanding. And if at all possible, indicate to what percent each of the outstanding tasks are complete.

This way we will get a good view of the projects progress and also understand which areas are troublesome.

Thanks again.
