Rigidshape oddness

by Benj · in Torque Game Engine · 02/13/2007 (8:06 am) · 3 replies

Last night i was experimenting with rigid shapes, and i noticed a few things that were weird.

1: i would place a rigidshape or two, in the mission editor, then get out of it and the player couldnt move till i opened and closed it again.

2: the shapes i placed, would roll/slide and stuff(which was very cool) but whenever i open the mission editor they snap back to where they were when i placed them.

any ideas?

I've seen #1 ever since TGE 1.5 came out. I don't think it's rigidshape related.

I wish I could pin #2 down...it's convenient when placing vehicles and such...but unpredictable....personally, I try not to think about it! :-)

#1 doesnt happen with anything else but rigidshapes, its so weird, #2 is annoying cause i been learning more about torque by just making random weapons and systems, making a sort of... sandbox game where you can pretty much do anything, one of the things i made was a rotation system to make a thing like the tribes2 construction mod possible, and i was thinking of using rigidshapes insted of static shapes, so they would fall and have physics, and i could drag them around with a grabbing function i hardcoded in.

#1 -- Try moving forward or backward before exiting world edit mode. Seems to work for me.

#2 -- after changing something in the world editor, try clicking some other obect in the world tree (or whatever it's called) then closing the world editor. Next time you open it, your objects shouldn't snap back. This works well for my stuff.
