Does the Linux version run just like the Windows version?

Are there any major differences? Is the linux version free once you buy the Windows or OSX version? Anybody try running the Windows version with WINE?

Linux version is free and comes with other packages. This is a cross platform engine you know.
There are a few issues on the linux side, but will find relevant help and tips on the forum.

I tried running the windows version on Cross Over on my Mac, which is built upon Wine.
Some build versions of the engine are working, depending of what has been changed in the graphic code.
One of the modified engine I ran until yesterday and I thought was fine, had in fact the environment mapping broken. I figured that until I installed and run XP on the iMac with BootCamp.

TGEA is not working on Wine.

Hope it helps.

@Daniel, as you posted a message in the TGB Public Forums, I'll assume your question was specific to TGB -- which in fact -DOES- have issues in Linux ... though it does run in Linux ...

People have expressed concerns and issues with TGB running in Linux being "slow" when running the Level Builder, and consuming more resources (CPU Cycles basically) then it does in OSX or Windows ...

Also, there are a few "out of the box" build errors in the main code tree that need to be fixed, and these may be corrected in the next release of TGB ... but basically, TGB and TGE both run in Windows, OSX and "compile" in Linux and BSD ... TGE has better linux support then TGB, but TGE is also older and has a fairly larger community ... TGB is getting there, and I see no reason why a little work here and there would prevent you from getting TGB working "as you want it" in Linux --

However, tuning TGB for Linux requires some C++ modifications ...

@Stephen -- he posted it in a general forum ... but I -just- read a TGB Public Forum post he made ... just thought I'd toss the engine reference in so others didn't jump in and make more TGE specific references ... :)
