Can you post an image of the black surface issue, I was unable to reproduce it here.

I did debugging via PIX and up to a certain point, the gfx device would go invalid, and thus Present() calls wouldn't fire, thus rendering would stop.

We're seeing lost device issues with Vista. I haven't tried RC1 though, but in 4.2, the game would continue to run but rendering would stop.I did debugging via PIX and up to a certain point, the gfx device would go invalid, and thus Present() calls wouldn't fire, thus rendering would stop.

I dont think this bug would appear if aero is turned off, like in the home edition of vista.
But it would be nice to know if anyone else sees this?
This happens in rc1 demo, allthough not much.
I have atis 64bit drivers of which i think they have only made one release yet.

Does anybody else get in vista with aero a graphics bug where the sidebar "flashes" through.I dont think this bug would appear if aero is turned off, like in the home edition of vista.

Niklas, if you set the sidebar to "always on top" does this resolve the flashing through?

I've seen the flashing bar issue, but turning off Aero via the game itself is sort-of hacky :) It would be better to resolve the issue however it needs to be done. I will do some testing tonight of RC1 on my Vista install

Guys....TGE-A is not even tested against Vista, much less being developed for it currently. It won't have support for Vista in 1.0, although the future is probable.

And then we have an engine that is about to come out (1.0) and cost $295, but potentially won't be compatible with the OS that any new computer shipping from any major retailer and most computer stores (unless specifically requested otherwise) will be selling... despite Vista being in beta (publically and privately) for quite a while for that exact reason, so software could be brought up to speed with it.
Not to say there is expected to be a DX9.0Ex or DX10 specific render path yet, but at least making sure it will run okay is a first step. Although Kenneth said he has been compiling and running TGEA on Vista, so at least there is some hope..

Is it TGEA or TGE-A? :p And then we have an engine that is about to come out (1.0) and cost $295, but potentially won't be compatible with the OS that any new computer shipping from any major retailer and most computer stores (unless specifically requested otherwise) will be selling... despite Vista being in beta (publically and privately) for quite a while for that exact reason, so software could be brought up to speed with it.

Well...sorry..but
I guess that TGEA works on Vista, don't be allowed on explorer 7.0.
Now I didn't post to solve this problem.
I just need lots info or data about the commercial of TGEA advaned
Now we're designing the FPS online game.
Could you teach me the updated data for FPS??

I also noticed that if you fullscreen the demo, you cant get the cursor to the menu in the bottom, if someone else could check if this is a vista specific bug or not? It seems that the area where the cursor is "allowed" to move is cut off right above the menu in fullscreen.
I had to click a link that opens a webpage, and then click and drag to resize the window, and after that i could click the "exit" button for example.
@Stephen: Yes, i understand that, im not saying you have to fix it right away, im merely trying to inform you of potential problems.

@Kenneth: no, apparently it doesnt resolv it for me, it still shows through, but in the demo it only flashes every now and then.I also noticed that if you fullscreen the demo, you cant get the cursor to the menu in the bottom, if someone else could check if this is a vista specific bug or not? We haven't been able to reproduce the cursor problem on XP, you guys are still seeing this? Any usual resolution? What are your rig specs?

It works fine on vista and x64 for me, not sure what your doing wrong. Can you tell us what you've done so far.

Default download of rc1 ive changed the resolutions and put on full screen, but ive tried 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1600x1200
And all have the same problem of the cursor not being able to get down there until the window is rescaled.

Resolution: 1280x1024 but back when it started happening (MS2) I was using 1024x768.
I think someone (Fulbright?) said it had to do with window borders, but I'm not sure.
Anyhow, it does not happen in TGE 1.4.

Brian, it only appears after I have alt-tabbed (minimized) or switched resolution.Resolution: 1280x1024 but back when it started happening (MS2) I was using 1024x768.

It seems like the "taskbar area" is cut "out of the reachable" area when you switch back into TGEA, even thought my taskbar is on autominimize. BUT: this does not happen all the time. Haven't a direct relationship to something else yet.
And the show through is no Vista own problem at all.
Install Stardocks ObjectDock and let it enabled when going to TGEA Fullscreen.
All icons that get updated will cause a flicker through of them.
I think TGEA is not able to handle other DX based overlays on the desktop that redraw them while TGEA is running or just does not shut their rendering correctly (or enforce its own as beeing exclusive. Is TGEA running in non-exclusive? And not only TGEA is having such problems. WC3 and others have as well, mostly known due to messengers with their "you got a message" overlays )

Happens here as well and as stated only if TGEA runs in fullscreen at a lower resolution than the desktop had.It seems like the "taskbar area" is cut "out of the reachable" area when you switch back into TGEA, even thought my taskbar is on autominimize. This issue happens in even Directx9...it's not really Vista exclusive.

Yeh, I've seen the taskbar thing happen in XP often with various things... although the lockups we see with Lost Device "situation" in Vista is specific to Vista, but we haven't moved to RC1 which may have fixed it.
